Below are sketches of two rooms I have available in my house for a studio. Which room is the better candidate? One is bigger but more irregularly shaped. Both rooms have walls made of drywall.
Here's the operating parameters I have:
ca. $500 DIY budget (I am good at building things)
Moving walls is not an option.
I record primarily acoustic music, mostly bluegrass (guitar, mandolin, upright bass, dobro, fiddle, and vocals).
In the smaller room there are doors, windows, and closets in the corners that require movable panels.
So is there any way to whip the larger room into something more symmetrical with movable panels or something relatively easy to pull off?
In the long term I will build a larger studio in my unfinished basement, but I have some projects that need to get done before I could try to tackle such an endeavor.
So which is the better room to put my efforts into? Any advice much appreciated.
Which basket should I put my eggs in?
