Not sure if this has been posted before, but is there a maximum angle degree in which treatment for a corner will not be needed, such as a 120 or 140?
What type of treatment? Do you mean bass traps? You'll always need bass traps. The question isn't really whether or not you need them at a certain angle, but rather how much effectiveness you lose as the angle increases. The best reason to put bass traps in a 90 degree corner is to get the extra 6dB boost from the second wall. From a flat wall you'd get 6 dB boost, two-wall corner is 12 dB, three-wall corner is 18 dB (Theoretically, of course. Your mileage may vary. Caveat emptor. May not be combined with other discounts or special offers. Void where prohibited by law.). So I would imagine that as you "open up" the angle from 90 degrees to 180 degrees, the "boost" will fall from 12 dB to 6 dB. However, I have no idea if that fall off is liner, logarithmic, or depends on the position of Mars relative to Neptune! So, to answer your question, you'd actually need MORE bass trapping to get the same effect with a wider angle in your corner. - Stuart -
