Hey Guys, Jut had a quick question about some bass trap construction. I know you can build DIY bass traps using Compressed Rockwool SLabs. What i wanted to know was is it also possibe to build Bass Traps Using Loose rockwool which didnt come in a slab Form At all ? I ask this as I might have a decent amount of looserockwool left over after using it as Insulation In between My walls and another reason being that Ive read that Lese dense Insulation performs better at absorbing lower Frequencies. If anyone has done this before some advice would be great. IF not then just some assurance from the experts that this could work if built right so i can go ahead and build them and document the buld to help others who might Be interested. Cheers
Sure that would work, kinda depents on the wool (type/weight etc), but yeah. You could make a solid corner trap out of it. Just stack all the wool can cover it with cloth or alike. So, what wool are we talking about exactly?
Thanks for replying ro, I was reffering to Loose rock wool. The typ that doesnt come in slabs on predefined thickness and density. It just comes in large sacks and u stuff it whereever u need to insulate. Thats wht i think of it. Im no sure that there are densities for such rockwool or glasswool also for that matter as i think the density would depend on how much u use and how tight u stuff it in. Ill post some pics soon enough to give you an idea. Cheers man :) edit: i just found a pic online. I think it wuld be something like this. http://goldcoasthydro.com/shopsite_sc/s ... ia/606.jpg
seems fine to me! Density isn't that great a deal in the world of basstraps :) Just stuff it in a corner, leave it in the bag if you will, and it'll do the job.
CHeers bro, Just wht i needed to know for my small control room. As im building it according to a good set of ratios but i do think i will need to address lof frequency problems tht might arise so just preparing fr them in advance :) Will post pics obviously once i set out building them.
