Hi there, I want to introduce my plans, to build a big recording- and concert room into an existing hall. We are located in Germany, and built a studio for mainly Jazz, Classical and other acoustic music. Right now, we have a control room (about 25sqm), and a recording room of 90sqm. The dimensions are (inside) 13m x 15m, the height is 10m rising up to 12m.

This is the google earth view. The hall is located in a backyard, there is a big street (on the pics bottom), but this traffic is not a big problem. Right now we only hear parking cars (door slam and starting engines), because the hall has to big gates on the north side, formerly it was a truck repair garage. These gates we want to close with a brickwall. Also 2 windows above the gates will be closed with bricks.

The plan is, to insulate the complete, including the ceiling with Rockwool and double-layered gypsum board. Or, and this is one of my main questions, with bricks. We call them in Germany Kalksandstein, its a pressed sand brick. The windows I want to double, by installing into the gypsum wall another double-glass window. We had problems with neighbours, when we had some parties until 2.a.m. So I think we will be on the safe side, with this concept. For heating the room we plan to install a floor heating, there is a studio proofed noise-less system available here in Germany. AC is not so popular in Germany, ventilation we want to install a small system,, which will be used on demand, no allday working ventilation. The budget is about 80k€, max 100k€ plus 50k€ for audio- and lightequipment. We have the most stuff, so the equipment budget is for new multicores, some light trusses for small theatre productions. Here I made a sketchup-plan with my ideas for the final use. I want to build raising seats for the audience with stage-elements. We can put them in or out, so that there is a big empty room for recording and with the elements a concertroom or theatre.

Right now, i have no acoustic treatments plans. I hope you guys can help me. I had the idea to build a module hanging from the ceiling. I want to install a lift so I can lower it for installing lights or beamer. If this module is an acoustic module like from absorbing material, I can lower or raise it to adjust reverberation, just an idea.. Please let me know your ideas, suggestions and other things. I will get exact plans from the architect in dwg-format. NORTH VIEW inside:

I can send it later. Then we will have a much better base to start with. thanks a lot, John. Without you I couldnt build the first rooms of my studio I work in for the last 4 years. your fan, Jonathan
