Hi There,
I Have built five 1200x600 panels filled with rockwool for my studio and now want to cover them with Auralex wedge tiles or a cheaper alternative.
I really want to buy the Auralex ones but can't really afford it, are they really that much better than the other alternative tiles available?
Auralex or Similar

Hi,
I've updated my profile and read through the instructions. Please let me know if I've missed something.
I'm a newbee when it comes to acoustics but I'm learning a lot thanks to others sharing their info on the internet.
I've managed to build 5 decent panels for my small studio. I want to add some tiles on top of the rockwool to neaten things up and soak up some mid to high freq's and just not quite sure which types of acoustic tiles to buy.
I've done a search through the acoustics section of this forum and can't see any auralex related reviews or discussions
any advice would be great
I'm not sure I understand: Why is the rock wool not doing that for you already? Did you cover it with something that is causing reflections? I don't see why you would need additional expensive treatment on top of rock wool, when rock wool is already a great absorber. What frequencies are you having trouble with?I want to add some tiles on top of the rockwool to neaten things up and soak up some mid to high freq's
I'm having trouble mainly with the bass end.
I have installed corner traps, but am yet to install the panels, I thought I'd get some tiles A: to absorb some of the mid to high freq's and B: to make the panels look alot better
the panels will be going on all of the reflection points in the room
You are now writing that you are having problems with the low end of the room. You have not described the room. This is one of the things in the "Before You Post"Hi, I've updated my profile and read through the instructions. Please let me know if I've missed something.
Forget about the Auralex on top of you panels.
It's not a great solutions, and it's gonna cost ye.. as you already figured.
For basstrapping you need VOLUME (amount of wool). If you have panels on your corner, why not fill the gapp behind them or make the panels thicker. Just add more wool, it's a good and cheap solution.
Further more, we, indeed, need more info on your room. But in general; more wool = more trapping. Thicker=lower absorbing
