bedroom studio plan to do list

I want to start work on it now, but thought I would see if anyone has a similar set up and might be able to shed any light on problems that might arise. I'm thinking of blocking the window, with what I'm not sure? do I need to block the window? can I use a material that lets in daylight? I'm also interested on any tips on how and what's the best materials to make the slot resonators and absorbers out of. And finally... what's the best method for my desk, shall I just buy some worktop down my local jewsons? The majority of the work that will go through the studio is dance/electronic music and I'm not particulary bothered about recording instruments ( I'll occasionally record vocals) I just want to hear what's there and not what isn't. thanks for any advice, I'm itching to get to work on this
