Hey guys, I am very interested in building a recording studio, but while I like making music, I have literally no idea how to achieve good acoustics etc. I'd also like to have a bar in this recording studio, so it'll be like my own lounge haha. Anyway, after my first attempt on Sketchups LayOut feature I have came out with a basic, rough design. The design is for a 6x4m building, although I may not have the space to build something so big. The scale of the diagram is 4cm=1m. The red 'C' like thing is a shelf for all the recording studio bits and bobs of which I've only drawn 3, but I'm sure I'll have enough to clutter the desk  . And the grey vertical line is going to be a glass wall(I've heard somewhere that the control room should be seperate to the recording room). The purpose of the recording studio is to record mainly acoustic guitar, some drums, some electric guitar and perhaps some vocals. But I won't be recording more than 4 people. Anyway heres a picture of the initial designs: http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/4513 ... alpqy7.jpg My questions are: What are the best sizes for the rooms etc to make sure good acoustics are achieved? (I'm sorry if that sounded dumb, but I really am a noob) I am planning to get marble floor and red velvet walls, are these going to be bad or good for acoustics? Thanks for reading such a long winding post :p.
There is an announcement at the top of the forum about what to do to assure getting as many responses as possible. The announcement leads to this post. Actually, several people, who are experts on this forum, will not reply if you do not do what is written in the post. Many others who are very helpful, will not reply out of respect for the moderators' wishes. viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3231 (Apologies to André for cutting-and-pasting his standard post)

Sorry about that: In terms of my location I am in Wales. I am not particularly loud, but I would like the room to be as soundproof as possible. And I am not really sure in terms of budget. Preferably under £3000 to construct the building? Is that unreasonable?
Any help guys?
