Hello, name is Morgan. First off, I want to thank everyone in the community for all their efforts in helping people like myself out. It is truly appreciated. I recently moved back to my hometown of Augusta, GA after finishing school at UGA in Athens, and I am looking to turn a room into a project studio. This is my first post, and this forum seems to vehemently encourage the following of posted rules so I will try my best.
I have a 22'x20'x8' room in the back of the house with an entrance to outside and a bathroom. My goal is to get the best possible sound out of the limited space. I have read through the forum and still cannot decide on some major design aspects. My budget is approximately $1,000, as most of my money went into equipment, instruments, etc. The only construction I have planned involves the building of a small vocal booth, and the acoustical treatment of the room. Honestly, I feel that if the room were square this may be a lot easier, however the room has a bathroom in the corner and thus complicates some design aspects.
I plan on using the studio for tracking local artists (i.e drums, guitars, keys, vocals) and have NO issues regarding neighbors seeing as how the property is isolated. I will summarize my questions as best I can below.
1) DESIGN - Are there any major problems, or better ideas, regarding the layout of the room? (i.e should I place my desk somewhere else, perhaps drums, or the vocal booth in another areas?) I've thought about this from a few different angles and this seems to work, at least in my mind. However I do not know if the layout utilizes the dimensions of the room optimally or not.
2) ACOUSTICS - The room has windows which take up a lot of wall space. I am planning on boarding the windows in order to utilize this space for panel absorbers? Again I am so new to this and come to you guys quite humbled. (I have tried) I plan on putting bass traps in the corners, and other than that I really am looking for ANY advice on where I could place any more acoustical treatment. I have recorded vocals and guitars in the room (with furniture etc) and the room sounded ok to me. However, I'm sure that's just my naivety, either way I would really appreciate any ideas on how to make it sound better, if possible.
3)"PERTINENT INFO" - If you look at the pictures you'll quickly notice the glass closet which takes up a substantial portion of one of the walls. Is it better to board this up in order to treat it?, meanwhile losing the storage (which I dont mind doing at all) or should I leave as is? There are also two ceiling fans in the room (pictured below). Should anything be done (other than turning them off) regarding them?
4)NOTES - As much as I'd like, I cannot use the bathroom for anything other than, well you know :) I AM more than willing to try to save money wherever possible by building my own treatments when possible.
5)CURRENT SETUP - pro tools m-powered 7.4, m-audio project mix io, m- audio octane 8 ch pre-amp, reason 4.0 etc, instruments - guitars, keys, drums. I have a total of 16 simultaneous inputs into pro tools. I am looking to record local bands FREE as well as my own music. (myspace.com/thatswhatshesaidathens) This is not about the money for me, however I obviously care about making it the best it can be.
Finally, this is my first time using sketchup (cool program) so the measurements are a little off, but not by much(also the vocal booth will be extended to ceiling) I hope you get the idea. Again I am simply looking for ANY advice that anyone could possibly give. Please forgive me if i have excluded anything, or not have not been clear. Thank you to anyone who will consider giving me some pointers and I wish you the best and once again thanks to Mr. Sayers and to all of you who help make this site so valuable.

US$ 1,000 isn't going to go very far. I'm not sure that you'll even be able to build a decent vocal booth with that.My budget is approximately $1,000,
well i can spend more if i have to i was just shooting for that range, i just really want a basic recomendation
