hi everybody
We are moving our studio to a bigger place and cant figure out a good design.
Location: Sweden, malmö.
The space is on the second (top) floor. the ceiling height is ~5m to the left and ~3,5 to the right. there is no one to bother on the first floor or anywhere near the studio.
I dont need help with the construction of the walls etc, ive built a studio before with good results, this is just about the design.
We cant tear down the existing concrete walls and we cant move the two doors (between rehearsal and control room/live room and the one between control room/live room and storage voc/amp room). The floor is made of thick concrete.
we will solve the budget issues by buying used stuff and build by ourself. The main thing is to build a quiet control room with a small, good sounding liveroom next to it. we will deal with the sound in the rehearsal room later.
we want to start to build just a quiet control room. no sound from the live room or the rehearsal room in here. IF there will be a problem with the schedule (people want to rehearsal while we want to record in the live room) we will deal with that by setting up rules or building. But thats a later problem :). The live room next to will be used for drums, vocals, amps, etc. If we want a bigger (or just different) sound we will use the rehearsal room. We also want a window between the small live room and the control room.
We use only nearfield monitors and need an as easy solution as possible. We want to have the control room to the right since the windows are there (there are windows to the left too, but in the ceiling.
Help would be very apriciated.
Ive attached a sketchup file with the right scale.
Thanks!
New studio. big spaces but cant figure out a good design.

we are really stuck here, feel pretty stupid. any ideas are better than the ones we have at the moment. the simpler the better. Any suggestions from anyone are more than welcome...
btw, the door openings between the rehearsal and live/control room, and between the live/control room and storage/voc room cant be moved. thats whats doing it hard for us amateurs to figure something out.
I'd suggest that you build a basic 3D model of your rooms in SketchUp, showing the exact location of walls, doors, windows, roof, floor, etc. and post it here. It's really hard to see what you have in terms of dimensions, construction, etc. just from that simple plan.
The more info you give (quality and quantity), the better are your chances that someone here will respond.

ok. ill add it and do my best, thanx. is it important with the height as well?
Yep, height is important too. And if the ceiling slopes at an angle, that is also important.
ok, thank you very much. Ive edited the info in my first post. Will add the exact ceiling height tomorrow, with the right angle.
