Background: I am just finishing my home studio inside one of the spare rooms in my condo. The four walls are made of 7 inch hollow concrete block finished with plaster and painted. I have already plugged the window using the familiar methods described in this forum. The room dimensions are H: 2.5 meters W: 2.62 meters L: 3.43 meters The ceiling is one layer of drywall attached through regular furring in each room and the height from the ceiling to the actual roof should be around 5 feet in the center and then it tapers to 0 along the outer walls. I am planning to use a custom built solid core door with additional plies of 18mm and 3mm MDF for a total depth of around 6 cm and seal it with a nice Zero International Inc acoustic door seal kit (http://www.enoisecontrol.com/acoustic-door-seals.html). You can check other details about my studio here: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=10748 Question: Considering that the ceiling is a one ply drywall system, is it worth it to purchase mass loaded vinyl and attach it between MDF plies in my door? (sound has to go once through the drywall and then come down through the ceiling drywall again in adjacent rooms and I'm not sure if this fact will overpower the benefits) The investment in MLV will be around $250. It won't break my bank but at this point I could invest that in other stuff if it doesn't provide me any sound control benefits. Alonso
MLV is not cost effective for studios and inappropriate in the application you are describing. Andre
thank you Andre, you just saved me $250 bucks! :D
