I have recently purchased 20 Bags of Noise Bloc (see link below) to insulate my warehouse conversion studio. http://www.creativebp.com.au/images/prod_Insulation/Noisebloc%20CBP.pdf However I am now thinking this was not the best option as it is only 20kg/m3… It is however a dream to install. I am thinking of returning it and going for Bradford’s Sound screen 2.5 which is 40Kg/m3 http://www.bradfordinsulation.com.au/Products/Residential/Acoustic-insulation/SoundScreen-Plus-for-external-walls.aspx I have noticed that there are some theories floating about that it is better to go with less dense insulation….. can anyone shed any light on this? Which product would you chose and why? My walls are double stud walls made of the following… (2 x 13mm Sound stop) + (insulation) + (3inch air gap) + (insulation) + (2 x 13mm Sound stop) Kind Regards Darryl

20kg/m3 is not much, not even for an absorbing material. If you whish, yeah return it. The 40 kg/m3 sounds okay. Check Bob Golds site for alternatives to 703 (which is a recommended piece of fiberglas)

Please read the stickies AND the forum. It's crammed with that sort of info already. cool, eh!

Sounds cool. And you wanna change that? or are you looking for in-room acoustics?

What theories? It is based on the test results in the paper by Roller published by USG. Look at fig 1. For music the controlling factor is LF isolation. The light weight and medium density insulations basically provide the same isolation at low frequencies. The one exception is where the gap is still large with the insulation installed. Andre
