Inner-wall soffit-mounting design?

OK, here goes nothing... I recently researched the idea of soffit mounting (flush) the speakers in the control room's front wall. The ideas and designs I found on this forum are based on creating a separate construction from the existing wall and placing the monitors in there. I was thinking... If we are going to build a CR's front wall from scratch using double frames, instead of building it and then constructing the soffit "add-on", couldn't we instead intergrate John's or Barefoot's soffit mounting design to the inner wall, wasting no more space than the space for the add-on requiered? I quess we could... :? However, the real question should be another one. Are we really going to benefit from going this risky way? I say risky because the add-on is the obvious safe way to do it. If it doesn't work, hell, you remove it, change it and put it back. Try to do that with the inner wall... Is it going to be less expensive to build? Is it going to be less time-consuming to build? Is it gonna be as effective or more as the add-on? We will never know, unless someone is willing to take that risk... Thank you very much for your time, John PS: Pieces of this topic were taken from my previous post on "Speaking of Speakers" forum, in which, only Ro was kind enough to discuss with me this consept. We kinda reached a dead end, so, here we are...
