Hi there, Has anyone had experience constructing/installing the wood panel type traps in a small room? My live room is approximately 3.4 x 3.0 x 2.5 m (high) and i have already used broadband treatment throughout, but still seem to have nasty resonance issues in the 50 - 120Hz range. (Mainly a prob with kick drum) I have read Ethans and Rods construction details and concluded one of these panel traps, tuned to around 100Hz centre freq would work best? Is there any optimum size for these? How many would I realistically need to install? Is it possible to have too many of these? Thanks heaps for any help, Matt
In a room that small I'd skip wood panel traps and just use lots of thick rigid fiberglass traps. Wood panel traps are more useful in large rooms, where even after treating all the corners there are still large areas of bare surface. --Ethan
Hi Ethan, Thanks heaps for your response, I was hoping to avoid making the room too dead sounding if possible hence the question regarding the wood traps. If I apply more rigid glass traps, would the room benefit from 4inch suspended panels hung from the ceiling? The ceiling slopes from 2.4 to 2.7m over the 3.4m width. I figure that this way I can get some better sized airgap between the back of the panels and the ceiling. I have already covered in the ceiling in the 1inch rigid glass. Thanks Matt
