Hi all. A non-related design issue (ish) but one I just wanted to share. Anyhow, after spending about a year designing my single space control room to record and mix electronic music, reading every article on here over and over, learning from great ideas and peoples mistakes, I'm finally able, both practically and financially, to start construction. (I really should put my design on here!). Anyhow, after explaining in detail my plans to both the wife and in-laws , I was posed the question "Can't you just buy a shed?" After trying to explain the reasons why not, I think the penny dropped!!! I just wanted to share the experience as I'm sure I'm not the only one?    Be lucky.
My wife looks at me, everytime I'm showing her my plans and stuff, like I'm an idiot. "WHY on earth would you go through all that hassle?". I've explained a few times and told her it's something I love to do (besides the fact that I NEED it to be done). "Oh, well", see replies.. haha. But she's cool with it. Yup, we're all IDIOTS in here I suppose.. :p

I thought that was a pre-requisite for wanting to build your own studio, and ESPECIALLY for signing up as a member here!!! :)
The first reaction to my basement studio I received was "That sounds expensive." to which I replied..."OK, let's see how much it will cost to rent a space downtown." ..I'm in the construction phase of my basement studio now :) Don't let anyone squash your vision man, you'll regret it later! Cheers, Shaun

especially people who know nothing about the subject.
Yellowfever - Believe me dude you're not alone, and, I have the most understanding/patient wife in existance! She now teaches vocals in my studio as well as her regular day job. I was actually thinking of putting her rent up!  Only kidding of course. Kind regards, and best of good luck, Lou. 8)

Hey, thanks Lou. So glad the site is back by the way. After the work that has been done, people are slowly understanding why we need to do what we need to do; and no, wife, it can't be a playroom for the baby!!!! 4 weeks into the build now and pictures are being taken; I plan to run a sort of build diary rather than the regular construction posts. I haven't done everything I should, purposely  due to space and finances, but stuck to the basics and it's looking good. Hopefully finish in 2 weeks and I'll post some pics. The dream is nearly there :D :D (Move this post if I'm in the wrong forum by the way!!!) Be lucky.
