I'm debating whether to texture my new walls (with a 'grain' in the range used in residential applications). I may do have texturing done anyway for visual effect, but if there is any diffusion benefit (for higher frequencies?), I would have no hesitation. The room is about 18' x 20' x 7' 6" high. I'll have some broadband absorbers hanging in various locations. Thanks.

Does common drywall texturing help acoustics by diffusing?

No it don't. It needs more depth and pref an algorithm.
Thanks, that's kind of what I was thinking, but it is nice to know.
