Hello all, Sorry to intrude in your Recording Studio Forum with my home theater questions but word on the mean streets is that you guys know your schtuff ... ! I have a uniquely shaped room for my home theater. It is one big open room, but has two different sections with different ceiling heights. The walls are fairly bare and are painted with a flat black. Here is a simple layout of my room with dimensions. Up in the left hand corner of all images is a little button that says "Full Size" ....... click to enlarge. ROOM LAYOUT http://tinyurl.com/6syapr Now here is a picture from the screen looking straight. You are looking into the back part of the room with the 8' ceilings. FROM SCREEN LOOKING STRAIGHT http://tinyurl.com/6cqx3z This next pic is from the same origin, but looking up a little bit. You can see the 11' vaulted ceiling. FROM SCREEN LOOKING UP http://tinyurl.com/5ckr3u Finally, this is from the sweet spot looking at the screen. Once again, the 11' ceiling... FROM PJ LOOKING AT SCREEN http://tinyurl.com/5ptgac ---------------- I plan on buying a bunch of Roxul RHT60 which as far as I know is less rigid than the Rockboard 60...but should still suffice. I am going to make 4" or 6" straddlers from floor to ceiling on the front wall corners as bass traps....easy enough.... The questions I have is what to do with the back of the room where the equipment is....There are quite a few corners because of the closets and none where I can straddle the floor/ceiling with bass traps. How about just making 4" traps and flush mount to the walls behind the equipment???? My AV Rack is dead center in the back of the room in between the 2 closets and so I would think that would break up the bass waves and provide diffusion but not sure..... Other question is the vaulted ceiling....I was thinking of doing 4" or 6" traps as well and straddling the apex of the ceiling with a couple of them... in effect creating a lower false ceiling.... What do you all think ? Any guidance is greatly appreciated !
one word: read the STICKIES. (okay, those were 3 words.. )
I know it's late, but this website http://www.hometheatershack.com/ would be more suited to your situation. Funny thing, you may run into many of the same faces there...as here ;)
