Oddly shaped room

I just moved into an apartment with an oddly shaped room. I posted the picture with dimensions below (not drawn to scale). I'm going to use the room for mixing tracks and direct recording, and maybe a little mic recording. I don't expect top quality professional results, but I want a nice listening environment where I don't have to worry about major problems regarding phase cancellation, excessive echo/reverb, etc.... I'm just wondering what might be the best suggested arrangement for the room (e.g., where to place the near field monitors, which direction, where the bed should go, where a bookshelf should go, etc...) and what might be the best acoustical treatments (foam, panels, room dividers, etc...). I'm thinking that the best solution would be to get/build a divider to cut off the small 6'x 8' nook and put acoustic foam around the walls (that way it minimizes the amount of foam I have to buy). I would like to use a big open space because I may be having people sit with me, plus it's just better to have more work space for keeping guitars, equip, etc.... but it just seems like the odd shape of the room and the amount of surface I would have to treat would just be too expensive and impractical. Any other suggestions? I would appreciate any advice
