My situation goes like this. I have space in office building, second floor. Its completely new building with only outer walls finished. I am building post studio. My studio outer walls are to the hallway. They are made of brick, and its brick, metalframe filled with rockwool, gypsboard on the hallway side of the wall. I cant change whats allready on the outside. I was thinking to put the same sequence on the studio side of the wall. Would that be correct way of doing it? Problem is that i cant figure out how many leafs are there really. Thank you for your help
I have found this link http://www.johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/viewt ... rior+walls that deals with exterior brick wall, but it doesnt answer my question. I am still not sure whether in my example that would constitute single or double leaf and what to do. Here is my attempt at drawing the situation

Anybody? Its quite urgent
Sound like a typical 2-leaf system already. The best thing to do is just beef-up the existing parts. That means extra MASS on either sides, or just one side if that's your only option. For example. Add extra Gypsum boards on the inner side and seal them all with sealant. The same goes, actually, for you ceiling, floor and other walls. That is IF you want good iso all around. Have you measured the transmission loss yet? gotta know WHAT you wanna isolate, eh.

Thank you for helping. I am getting desperate here. I need to make some decisions and make them quick. When you say that it sounds like a typical "two leaf", what do you mean? Do you mean that "typical two leaf" is what can be seen on my drawing, or that typical two leaf is brick with metal frame, rockwool and gypsboards on both sides? If you can make that clear, that would be nice. Do you basically advice to leave the outer side of the wall as is, because i cant do anything to it anyway, and then only screw gypsboard directly to the brick on the inside without any frames and rockwool? And i should do the same for the ceiling? You mean just screw gypsboard to the existing concrete ceiling and then build drop ceiling? Yes i want good iso all around. Thanks again
Ro,my friend? Is somebody here?
sorry, I forgot to take my pills this morning  a 2 leaf is MASS-AIR-MASS. The MASS are the walls and the AIR is.. well, it's the air. Oh, WOOL is also considered AIR in this case. there you go! Yes, just beef up the brick wall. You could make a frame, if the brick wall isn't straight for example, and add COMPRESSED wool in it so it will become a part of the leaf (mass) just so you won't have air pockets in between your leafs. I have a feeling you haven't spend too much time, yet, on the matter of sound isolation etc. You say you're in a hurry, but understanding soundproofing/acoustics etc you should spend some time on that. It's not magic, it's science.

Thanks a lot for your answer. Its clear now. I am in a hurry and i have to make decision on those outer walls, because they are included in the cost of space and construction company that is doing the work has to finish them and move on to other peoples spaces. Rest of the walls and ceiling can wait. No hurry there. Thanks again
