Hi everybody. First of all, I'm French, so I can't speak English very fluently but I'll do my best. It seems to be the best place to have help about studio design! So, I am building my home studio, and I just finished the construction, now I will treat the Acoustics. As you can see in the picture, it's not very big and I don't have so much space. But when I will record bands, I will take all my "gear" out of the room. It will be like a control room behind the window. And when I want to mix, I take my gear back in the room. The roof is made with "real" wood and rockwool and the walls are made with a kind of paper (tapestry ?) I still have to make the floor (with wood, I don't know the word) and one wall. I made a measurement, here is the picture of it and the LF waterfall My question is : What and how can I improve the acoustic in the room? Here are some pictures room :

sigh....
OK, I'm sorry I fill the location. I forgot to say that we already made the insulation, and that's ok, so I don't need help for the insulation. Behind the paper (tapistery???), on the walls, there is BA13, I d'ont know if you know this material? That might be usefull. Thank you and sorry again
pls resize your pix as stated in the forum rules (stickies) yeah, yeah we're a tough crowd. :) but welcome to this forum anyway!
Ok!! Is it good now? Thank you
yes! :)
So what should I do? Do you have any ideas? tipps? Thank you
The room is already build? Maybe a mod might move this topic to the dedicated "acoustics" forum. Why don't you start adding basstraps, you can't have enough. do some research on the acoustics forum, there's good knowledge there.
yes the room is already build. I think I'm gonna put basstraps in each corner, and I know that we can build it in different ways. I don't know which one is the best in my case. I think I will just put a rockwool panel (135X60 cm) in the corners... What do you think? I was also wondering where I can put my desk (with computers, monitors...) in the room. Thank you
"and the walls are made with a kind of paper (tapestry ?) " /quote I wonder if there is an Internet link that might show a picture of this product or procedure?
You need some serious planning, where's your design? I'd advise to take a few weeks off and read this forum. All the basics are here, including where to put your desk and how to build a basstrap. Really, good info here. Read and learn. good luck, speak to you in a few weeks ;)
Thanks a lot for answering me. Here you can see what I was talking about : http://i10.twenga.com/1/tp/30/14/118323014.png http://www.castorama.fr/images-je-realise/murs-papierpeint-poser-du-papier-intisse_02.jpg I actually know how to build the basstraps, but I have two ideas to build them (see picture). I have 70kg/m3 rockwool. I read a lot on this forum, and I saw that I don't have a good room design, but I can't change anything now, I just can build acoustic panels. My idea was to put in each corner a bass traps, and 2 "cloud" bass traps, just under the roof. I would put 2 bass traps in the longest wall. I also read this thing which was really interessting for my room : http://www.ethanwiner.com/acoustics.html#top (see figure 2)

Your room looks nice to me :) It does have a lot of wood/hard surface area. Bass traps are good, maybe something more to soften up the hard ceiling/floors down the line will help if it needs it.
Well I thought that the wall which is the nearest of the stairs and the boiler was not good because it breaks the symetry of the room, that was my "fear". So my room is not so bad that I thought :D
maybe something more to soften up the hard ceiling/floors down the line will help if it needs it.
I don't understand that sentence, could you please say it in another way? Do you mean that put acoustic panels (made just with rock wool) just below the ceiling would be a good idea? Could you please tell me which bass-traps looks the best for my room? Thanks a lot!
here is my plan : It is only absorber, because I think I need to absorb. They are all made with 70 kg/m3 rock wool

Nobody wants to answer me?
Ok sorry :?
Hello everybody. It has been a while that I didn't have any answers, indeed, my last message was posted the 24th of August... I read a lot on this forum, and it's very interesting, but, there is some question that I still can't answer. _ Which type of basstraps is the best one for my room? _ Where should I put my mixing desk and my monitors? My room isn't symetrical, so I don't really know... Thank you for answering me!
Your plane looks basically reasonably to me, considering the space that you have. Regarding your bass traps: I think I'd go with design number 2: In a room that small, you are going to need as much bass trapping as you can get! If your room isn't symmetrical, is there anything you can do to make it symmetrical? Remove walls? Add walls? Use gobo's? Symmetry is very important to get a good stereo image in your room. If you could make a detailed SketchUp model of your room, that would help.
