What to use instead of NEOPRENE for floating floor?

If you want to know the whole story, please read my former post "Forgot to add ROCKWOOL to floating floor. What to do?". I need to buy the right isolation for a floating floor and I'm afraid they don't sell neoprene at any major handy store here in amsterdam (I mean Gamma or Praxis, for those living in Beatrix's kingdom) so I had two options in mind: - The rubber carpets they use for putting underneath washing machines. - The rubber tiles they use for gardens, to prevent certain things from getting in contact with water in the floor. What should I use? Please bare in mind that my budget is extremely limited: 2000 euros for the whole thing (I mean the W H O L E thing) MAXIMUM. Many thanks in advance. alex.
Hi, I really feel that if your budget is what you say it is; then you should really spend it on other things that you will need for your build. After having finished my first floating wooden deck I had to tare it all up and restart because of the complex nature of the construction. With a limited budget I would focus more on building better walls and then "splurge" on the room treatment. Also worth noting: I am not a professional at this, it is simply my opinion. All the best. /Gash
I don't think it takes an expert to figure out the complex nature is mass, and you can not achieve that with a wooden deck. Well, some mass, but certainly not enough as you found out :) I have never built a wooden floating floor but I have built many wooden floors that were supported above ground. And they each one made noise, which is typical in a building, that the floor will make impact noise via footfall or bass drums, etc. alexfigueira: If you can move your floor enough to place anything under it, consider yourself lucky. Maybe you can stand it up and use it as another wall frame because it does not have enough mass for you to use as an isolated floated floor.
