My family owns a lumber yard home center (I know, I know...I'm pretty lucky), and I asked them about getting Green Glue. They said they could get the Titebond Acoustical Seal product. I was wondering if anyone knew that this would work the same, as I can save a considerable amount of money purchasing this. However, if it isn't a similar product, I'll end up buying Green Glue. Thanks! Tim West Amwell, New Jersey

admiralfish No it is not going to work - it has none of the properties required to act like green glue - and is manufactured for a totally different purpose. Rod
Hi Rod, Thanks for the quick reply! I will go with the Green Glue product. I have your book and I'm doing my best to do my homework before making any final decisions. I was wondering, too, if there was a particular silicon caulk you would recommend, or even better, which kinds to avoid, when sealing around gaps and such. Thanks! Tim
It's "just" sealant kit. With that Greenchoise stuff you caulk the perimeters of the walls, as the label says, to close leaks. GG is used in between layers, GB for example. It's used for dampening a sandwiched layer. 2 different materials, 2 different purposes. About you Q on which caulk to use: Choose for a kit that stays flexible, has a good mass, doesn't shrink too much (pref <3%). Transparant kit has a typical mass of about 1000 kg/m3 while coloured kit is a bit heavier, more like 1400 kg/m3. Getting the later will match you GB walls mass better (since you'll only caulk about half the with of the GB and not with "full" volume) Acrylic will work just fine, silicon will do better but is much more expensive.
That product maybe similar to the new product from Green Glue Company, Silen Seal but not from the original Green Glue
