'...til my puzzler was sore... Hi All. I recently purchased a house which has an empty 22'x 25' outbuilding I would like some help in designing a small commercial studio. Currently in the research stage, I am hoping to build into this existing structure a control room, studio and a vocal booth. My experience lies mainly recording pop/rock groups and would like to be able to record live drums in the studio. The surrounding neighbours' houses are 30-40 feet away. Existing construction: The floor is concrete slab. The walls are cinderblock insulated with 4" yellow fiberglass, plastic vapour barrier and covered with particle board. The roof is corrugated tin. There is no insulation in the ceiling and it is also covered with particle board. There is one entrance door and one wall contains a set of 4 windows. It's the building's ceiling design that has me puzzled. Floor to ceiling height for three of the four corners is 7' 5". The fourth and final corner has a floor to ceiling measurement is 10' 6". I have attached some crude sketchup jpegs and photos to try and show the design of the sloped ceiling. I can't seem to get my head around where to put what. Because of the ceiling's design, two of the 7'5" high corners would have the control room ceiling sloping left to right (or right to left). The remaining 7'5" corner would have my back to the rest of the room and the 10'6" corner leaves me with the least ceiling height for the studio. I have a budget of 10k, but I have yet to research material costs here in Switzerland (judging by the cost of everything else here, 10,000 should just about buy me a bag of insulation). I am hoping to do most of the work myself. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Cam.

Put the control room in the corner where the roof is the low of the peak. Read and study the reference sectio. Do your budget.
Hi AVare. Thanks for the reply. I fear my initial question may have come off as "I gotta room, wadda I do?". I have looked at the reference section, and I may have missed something, but it seems to detail the construction aspects more than design. My budget is 10,000 Swiss francs and although it may not buy as much here as in Canada (I'm originally from Vancouver, moved here recently), the figure isn't going to change soon, that is why I have to get to work  . I am hoping that it will be enough for the construction and I will need to decide on how much to 'gold-plate' the finishing. I have a rough sketch of what I think you suggested. In the jpeg below I put the CR in the low of the peak corner. The slope of the roof would be semetric left to right (my room is off a bit but that's just 'cause I'm lousy at sketchup) but I was under the impression that optimally the roof should slope up from front to back. This is the opposite. I was thinking that this is probably the best design although people would have to enter through the studio to get to the control room it would make the best use of the space I have. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Cam.
