Hi everyone-- I've got a pretty cool 1400 sqft space with 13' ceilings.. Not bad. This place is morphing from a rehearsal space to a full-on studio as time goes by.... But I have a big problem. Cell phone interference. It comes in randomly to all the solid state gear in the place. It sounds exactly like what you hear if you put your phone on the dashboard of your car and crank the stereo up. It's intermittent, as well. I was wondering why this interference was so strong when my landlord pointed out there is a cellphone tower maybe 200 ft from building. For the time being we arent doing mission critical recordings so it's annoyign but not a big deal. I have heard tell of copper paint to build a kind of Faraday cage out of my live and control rooms, and it looks pretty expensive, but I don't know what people use. Most of these products seem geared towards doing this sort of thing to plastic boxes, not brick and sheetrock. Any ideas? Help would be greatly appreciated. Best, Matt Walsh
Check the quality of your electrical ground and equipment grounding system. Andre
How do I do that? In New York City, by the way, the ground is common and is under the street. IE there's no pole. I should mention that I get the same problem with my battery powered guitar amp. (Those mini-twins actualy sound pretty neat!) Thanks Andre. M

Matt, check into the construction techniques for rf screen rooms. You'll probably be wanting to shield from .9 to 3 ghz. Here is an interesting product. http://www.axonics.net/html/flexisorb.html
Unfortunately my walls are already up. I was thinking of using this stuff: Need high grade RF shielding in a water base? Silver Lining is non-toxic because it is a one component acrylic latex coating using silver particles for conductivity. Cleans up with water like ordinary house paint. Can be rolled or brushed. Compatible with almost all plastics. A gallon covers about 480 ft² per 2 mil application. Resistivity is 1 Ohm/sq. at 2 mils, attenuation is 80 dB over 1 MHz – 10 GHz. For interior or exterior application, but a protective topcoat is recommended when used outdoors. Flat gray finish. That seems right-ish. It's gonna cost me an arm and a leg to do it but do it I must it seems. First, I'm going to test ground tho, just in case it's not the cell phone tower. M
