The label I am working for is getting ready to section off the area of their building for the soon to come studio. The area next to the studio is a paint shop with lots of sanding, grinding and a big air compressor. We need to build a divider wall that can keep things inside the studio space as quiet as possible (even before the studio rooms are built). I am considering using the design in the image replacing the SheetBlock with GAF Triply 4 and the mineral wool with Rockwool. If I should do some thing different or you can give me any tips please help me out. Thanks

Without having a system to review, I would go with a concrete or brick wall to get the mass for LF isolation. No SPL data doesn't help. If staying with gypsum build, use another layer of drywall to replace the bloc stuff. Green glue is more effective than rc. Rockwool is mineral wool. Andre
Due to costs and time block is not an option (wish it was). So replace the RC with glue on the studs? Would it be better to use steel studs? Man I have forgotten so much of this stuff being away from it 3 years.

Its impossible to answer all that with what I now of the project. Around here, ignoring the border, which is similar to your area, concrete block is actually a little bit cheaper (5-10%) than drywall for wall construction. If they are going to get decent LF isolation with dywall, it will be significantly more expensive than having concrete as one of the numerous leafs. Yes, I am taking for granted at least a triple leaf system. Working with cost, GG is much more expensive than rc. Steel studs is getting into a strange question. I am think it popped up while you were active here, but rc was created to give steel stud like acoustic performance from wood stud walls. IOW steel studs = wood studs + rc.

You have my sympathies. At least you are coming back on stream and not having to learn it from scratch. Andre
