Finally! After over a year of construction (goin slow) we finally finished the studio. Kendale has asked me to post some pics since he was the inspiration to some of the design concepts as well as others. Many of you maybe remembered last year when my partner and I were looking into the best designs a small studio can have and you all have contributed to this in some part. Thats why I would like to personally thank Recording Studio Design and the John Sayers forum. I have attached some pics.

Here are some Control room pics
hey, looks really good mate; very impressive standard of finish. Tell me, what is the internal dimensions of the control room? It looks very similar to a room size I'm designing and wondered how you get on? How does it sound? Is there a link to the design / construction thread? Cheers and well done!!!
Atleast is LOOKS great, dunno about construction but I'm sure you've got a diary somewhere we can follow ;) Would be cool.
Hey, ain't that a Antec P180 PC-case?
A beautiful looking finish indeed.
I was wondering, in regards to the soffit mounting of the speakers; Are there any port holes close to the floor? I can't seem to make that out from the pictures. The table puts too much shadow in the area.

Hi guys, been a while since my last login so I thought I would answer some questions.
I am not sure of the exact room dimensions because all the walls are angled and there is about 20 inches between the first set of drywall and the resonators, Its roughly 14x10x12.
We have bass traps in every corner in the control room and the ISO booth. The sounds is absolutely AMAZING! I have NEVER heard imaging like that on 20/20s before. You can hear EVERYTHING! Its amazingly easy to mix in that room. Its amazingly easy to concentrate on ANY element and hear it in its entirety.
Some of you might think its really uncontrolled by the way it looks because of the amount of wood. WRONG! Those are not just randomly placed boards, they are there for a reason. Different sizes, different spaces and behind the boards there is Owens Corning 703 that is about 4 inches thick all around (not including bass traps which have roc wool of about 20 inches depth). Like I said, I have never heard such a good room before. If any of you are in southern Cali any time soon in the LA area and would like to hear it, let me know. Send me a message or email. [removed]
As far as the ISO booth goes, its pretty much the same idea with allot more traps. In fact 70% of the ceiling is a big bass trap and we have another 2 giant ones on opposing corners. None of the walls are parallel and the angling is by as much as 12 degrees.
Again, the ISO booth sounds great. Its got this live quality about it like the control room does, but its weird cause I cant explain how it sounds. Its live, but its so controlled and tight and no resonances, just has this "air" about it (both iso and control). Instead of having that muffled sound that auralex gives you, you get this nice "real" air to everything and this clarity across the entire sound spectrum that its amazing. All i can say is, clear, warm, full, controller, tight, large sounding, smooth and pleasant.
We tracked some drums in it for the first time and OHH MY LORD! SUPPPPPEEEER TIGHT but again with that nice air and freedom to the high mids and highs that sounded like its a in a huge Bill Putnam room without the reverb.
Vox again, amazing! 20-20 its just so000 smooth and REAL! And the low end, especially on a bass voice is so clear and detailed without that woofy or honky sound.
Any who, I'm super excited about the room and super excited about the gear purchases I will be making soon. Thanks again all for your contributions with special thanks to Kendale.
Yes there are. They are about 24 inches tall and 18 or so wide. We have hangars in there to keep things controlled. One thing that I did notice about our room that was a bit weird is that the bass, say from 100 down to about 40 you cant really hear in some parts of the room. I have always wondered why that was. If you stay at mix position and listen you cant really hear the true low end. But if you move your head about 6 inches in, you hear everything fine. I don't know if there is something wrong with our speakers or something but I hope it has nothing to do with the sofit mounting. Either way, the way that the speakers throw with the soffits is amazing. And the imaging, that alone is worth it!A beautiful looking finish indeed. I was wondering, in regards to the soffit mounting of the speakers; Are there any port holes close to the floor? I can't seem to make that out from the pictures.
