Hello Terry, welcome to the forum. May I ask, I'm doin' a little survey here, how you got to this website? oh, and why don't you post an image instead of that PDF. Might get you an answer more quickly
If I was building this there would be a few questions. Like, what is the difference between the white walls and the grayed walls? Are they all...what are they? Because I see walls that start and end in places they should not start nor end at ;) It's a cute design, but seems to lack focus. Bo fus?
http://inlinethumb52.webshots.com/26035/2765462890037873721S600x600Q85.jpg What I am trying to accomplish here, is by using an existing rather oddly shaped room, to give this the best sound quality I can. Our budget is generous. :D During a recent remodel, the slab was cut away, and is new and free floating. I am looking at using the following components attached to the existing walls. Starting from the existing drywall finish, the additional 7" of material is made up of:
Resilient Hangers as made by Isomax 3/4" plywood 1/2" soundboard 5/8" Drywall 2x wood spacer 2" Fabic wrapped insulated panels
So, am I on the right track as far as materials and the shape of the room? The back wall behind the couch will be filled with hanging batt insulation. Currently I think the owner is leaning towards speakers on stands instead of built in. Can someone give me a better handle on that? There will be clouds hanging in both rooms, the production room has a hard lid already at 10' a.f.f., the Stuido room has an 11' a.f.f. ceiling. The question was asked, I found this web site through Google. I was looking for design details for installing the glass between the rooms, and it lead me eventually to this web site. Thank you in advance for any help offered.. http://inlinethumb49.webshots.com/35632/2381083810037873721S600x600Q85.jpg

" /quote You have existing drywall and your goal is to install RC on it? In the interest of mass/density, I'd lose the 3/4" plywood and the 1/2" soundboard and just use 5/8" fire rated sheet rock. But if your thinking of placing the hangers on existing sheetrock...I'd lose those as well. As the materials go, what a mess :) 'Splain something to me. Standing in the live room looking into the control room...breakdown the material/wall components. I see three(3) walls!!! edit: think long and hard about door placement. get them away from sitting areas, the sides of, front of or back of. They will interfere with your listening and eventually your treatments. also, get them out of corners....same reasons.
The Red walls are 'existing' as are the door locations. This is a pretty elaborate space (for me) and I am 'just the messenger'. Or should I say, an Architect learning something very new. The pale yellow walls are the ones I proposed in my last post. Please look at the attached PDF and jpg files for a better visual explanation. This is for a pretty predominant church here on the Left Coast, and they are very open to the proper suggestions (as am I). Thanks again for your feedback (no pun intended)

What if I just say it looks great and we move on from there? I have looked at the documents you presented and said what I thought needed to be addressed, based on my interpretation of what it is I think I am seeing :) Good luck, Brien
