Hi guys, i would like to clear something up, i have built my studio using a single brick wall air gap single brick wall, hence a cavity wall (i did not put any insulation in the cavity), it is supposed to work great in aiding isolation better than a normal double brick wall, no 1: is this true? no 2: is it going to create a big problem with acoustics or not in the room, will the cavity cause alot of resonance that will cause problems in the room or am i concerned for nothing and wont it mpact me that much after treating the room with acoustic panels, bass traps ect.....? I just hit a snare in the live room (i do know it is a completely raw plastered space with no treatment or ceilings yet so obviously it is normal to hear alot of resonance and echoes ect in the room, but how much of an influence could the cavity wall be having?

I don't know what the question is. Your double brick wall will give much better isolation than your roof. If you made the walls with more sound isolation, you would not hear any difference because the sound would still be coming through the weakest link (the roof). The isolation you have from the walls resembles what is in the attached graph.

It will have no effect on the room acoustics.

Zero. Andre Graph based on copyright material by NRC from IR 586.

thats truely great to hear the cavity wall wont have an effect on the acoustics of the rooms, i was so afraid that it would. Thanks again Andre. I will just have to make sure that i insulate the roof as well as i can, the tiled roof is a weak leaf, i will just have to make the 2nd leaf as strong as possible.
