Hi All ...Has anyone investigated or actually used sprayfoam insulation to build bass traps or acoustic panels? I have found some absorption coefficients for this material here http://www.alltechindustries.com/acoust ... s_foam.asp albeit it is not as extensive as what can be found on 703 or 705. It is interesting to me though because I will be using a company to sprayfoam some of my house for insulation. I could build a form and have them spray the foam in it ....then cover it with fabric and have a panel or bass trap depending on thickness. Of course that is if it is a good material to use for this purpose. I am talking about an open core foam by the way ....not the closed core. Any thoughts would be appreciated. RH
Good thinking, but at best the foam still reflects 2/3 of the sound against its surface. Not usable for absorbers. Andre
The absorption coefficiencies are lousy numbers anyway - doesn't come close to the numbers for rigid fiberglass or rockwool. Rod
