Hello everyone, this is a great forum. I would like to ask a question; I have a choice of using two rooms for my home studio. Can anyone tell me which room would be best and which orientation? I can not do a full blown conversion in either of these rooms, so I will just be setting up my computer and monitors and buying some bass traps. I will be recording some acoustic and electric guitars and vocals. My pictures show the position of my current setup, which does not sound very good. I am a noob, but it seems to me there is a large upper bass boost that makes everything sound muddy. In the first room shown, (the one I am in now) the small doors are for storage space/attic, which could possible be used for a machine room, when the temp inside isn't to extreme. In the second, the additional space is a closet from which the doors have been removed. I could put them back up again if that would be better. In both rooms there is carpet, and isolation is basically the same.
Which room to use and against which wall?

if you can have your desk face the angled wall in the office, then add enough absorption behind you - very heavy drapes over the window or something like a shutter with absorbers on them, and on your reflection points. in the bedroom - the normal advice - trapping in the corners, broadband absorption scattered around the room to tame flutter echos and get the room to the desired "liveness".
Thanks for the reply. So you don't think that one room would be better than the other?
if you're open to moving into the more square room, then i'd move there because (even though its close to square) its more symmetrical and with decent treatments should work fine. put your back facing the closets and trap the corners (ceiling corners as well).
Thanks! That's what I was hoping for.
