Hi guys, i want to start buying and building my acoustic panels, what would be the better option for the panels - rockwool or 703? I want to make 100mm depth panels (bass) aswell as 50mm (mids) and 25mm (highs) panels and then put them in order with the bass ones in the center moving outwards towards the shallowest panels.rockwool
703 is likely to be more expensive than rockwool, but this varies throughout the world. 703 will hold its shape better over time than rockwool will. Acoustic performance should be more or less interchangeable. Also, I wouldn't bother making both 2" and 1" panels. Pick one or the other for your first reflection points, and use 4" panels as bass traps. I'd put the bass traps in the corners (as many of the 12 corners as you can), on the rear wall, and possibly on the front wall behind your speakers.

Aargh! How could you write that? You KNOW that 703 is a specific product and Rockwool is a trademark used for an entire group of products.. It is as if answering the question "is a Camaro bigger or smaller than a Ford?" Andre

That is just is not true. Rockwool/mineral wool will not change shape over time.. Now IMO 703 is easer to work with, but that is totally different subject. Glenn
