I am currently in the planning & research stage of a home based, basement recording studio. The details are as follows: 1 - Overall Budget $50,000 - $75,000 CAD. 2 - New construstion in an unfinished basement. 3 - Studio must be as isolated from the rest of the house and neighbors as possible. 4 - Location in basement is below kitchen and family room (not ideal as flooring cannot be adjusted on the main floor). - The kitchen is located above the right side of drawing 1 and the family room above the left. 5 - Two load bearing posts are outlined in drawing 1. 6 - Window at top right must remain accessible but may have another window built in front as long as it can open and allow access. 7 - Height from slab to joist is 8'. Ventilation is outlined on drawing 2 (very basic drawing). 8 - I would also like to include a iso booth, most likely at the far right of the hallway in drawing 3. 9 - Maximum usable space: 33'6" wide x 20' deep x 8' high My experience is limited and the drawings/design are taking much longer than expected. I would like to know what the cost would be to have someone take care of these steps for me. The layout in drawing 3 is what I have been playing with and does not necissarily have to be the final design. The Studio Floor being practically square is my most recent concern. I am interested in a quote for putting the drawings and design together. I am located in Toronto, Canada.

There is an announcement at the top of the forum about what to do to assure getting as many responses as possible. The announcement leads to this post. Actually, several people, who are experts on this forum, will not reply if you do not do what is written the post. You did not indicate if you are doing the labour yourself. John here does work as you described. He has done projects in Canada before. See Blue Bear studios in the studios under construction. Very similar to what you are asking for. If you want someone closer, Pilchner -Schoustal on Queen Street does everything from home studios to world class facilities. Andre
I believe I did mention that this is the work I have done and I am looking for someone who can do a it better and quicker than I can. If it fits into the budget, and I find the right person, than construction would be done by someone else. Most details are still undecided and felxible as I am still in the planning stage.
