Hi, I'm planning to build my house plus project studio in Costa Rica this year. I'm from Belgium and want to start living in CR most of the year. The studio is mostly for myself, production/composing tasks and also projects for musicians who want to record in this environment... I'm already working on plans for about six months together with my architect (from LA), so concerning the house this is decided and ready for permits. The construction will start next month. I would like to post my plan to get some advice concerning the walls and the shape of the rooms. Note that the studio is part of the house, which includes my house (2 floors) and a rental loft above the studio. There are no neighbours in the first km, only nature (I'll post a picture of the land). The total surface is 200m2. Note also that all measurements are in meter! The buget I have for acoustic treatment is around 5.000 USD. The construction budget is together with the house and the guest unit (loft). Thank you for your time, regards, Jeff

Initially looking at your plans, I don't see the symmetry i the control room for monitoring or speaker locations. Am I wrong? I may have missed it, what is the ceiling height? Andre
True, on the plan no symmetry for the CR yet because I'm still not shure what to do. I prefer sitting in front of the window but then there's the door next to it... Right now, on the plan of the house, the ceiling is 3 meters high. This is possible for a CR? thx, Jeff
If I had your money and that great piece of opportunity, I would go to great lengths to make certain that no part of my house touched any part of my studio. Like those long exterior walls running north and south on the east and the west side of the structure (my orientation is right side north). Matter of fact, given this is coming out of the ground, I'd make certain that the concrete slab of the house and the slab for my studio also never touched. And just to get out there even farther...I'd have the house built first in such a way so I could come back in later and build, completely separate from the house, my studio area. If I had your money and that great piece of opportunity.
