pole barn wall question

Hello, This is my first post on this forum. I'm in the process of selling my house in town. So I'm having to abandon my existing studio. It was 8x13x18. Not a bad studio, but I had constructed without doing any research and mostly going off of the "myth's" that are out there when constructing. Hence, no loud recording at night and many trips back and forth to my truck when mixing down. I just purchased a piece of property out of town that has a 30x50 pole barn. 4x4 wood post frame. Metal sides. The distance from the floor (dirt right now) to the bottom of the wood truss overhead is about 12'. The barn is completely empty. I would like to construct inside the barn, but before I did anything I decided I would try to educate myself a litte more about what I was doing. I have bought and read Rod's book, read quite a bit of info on the John Sayers site and the SAE site and just recently this site. So, although I still have many questions, I feel I have a good idea about the way things are "supposed" to be done. I would like to keep half of the building "open" for storage and other things, so that leaves me with a 25x30 space. So far I have sketched out a control room, vocal booth, main studio, storage, bathroom, small shop in this space. Also, a "tv/recreation" room. Anyway I have all this in a 25x30 space, and I'm somewhat happy with the layout. I'll probably be going with 8' ceilings to give room for a/c ducting and storage above ceiling. Anyway, on to my first question. I would like to utilize the walls of the existing barn somehow and then build another wall inside of that. So far I have thought of: 1) Cutting drywall to fit in between each wall post and then fill with insulation, but: 2) I live in southwest Louisiana (extremely humid) so I was thinking moisture may effect the sheetrock that would be against the metal so maybe I should put some sort of vapor barrier (tyvex) before putting the sheetrock in or: 3) Instead of sheetrock use wood or: 4) Don't use drywall or wood and just insulate in between the studs. I've been pondering the best way to utilize this existing wall for some time. Any suggestions on this subject would be greatly appreciated. Oh, I record anything from just spoken voice to full all out R n'R band. The nearest neighbor (besides myself) is about 75 to 100 feet away. That's just a guess though, I haven't measured. It may be a little more. The next closest neighbor after that is about 100 yards and they are family and will probably be helping with the build. So if they hear anything at their house I can always tell them "I told you we should have _______" Thanks in advance for any advise.

I suspect that Ro or Andre might have a suggestion for you...

How did you guess? :D J.P.: There is an announcement at the top of the forum about what to do to assure getting as many responses as possible. The announcement leads to this post. Actually, several people, who are experts on this forum, will not reply if you do not do what is written the post.
I was afraid that was coming. I've actually been reading stuff on this site for about a month. I've been holding back asking any questions 'cause I've seen so many answers like the one I received. I wanted to make SURE I had my stuff together before I asked any questions. I've also done many searches on the specific question I had, which was about the best way to utilize a wall with metal on the outside of wall. Didn't really find anything. O.K., I went back and read the annoucement again. Location: I stated I was in Southwest Louisiana Room detail: I sketched out as far as I have gotten. Stated the wall was metal attached to 4x4 post. Stated barn was 30x50. But will be using 30x25. Stated floor was dirt right now. The announcement post says "If I need any more room details, I will ask." Effort into question: I put thought into my question about the wall and listed several different ways I arrived at my though processes. Overview (where at in process): I have an empty barn with a dirt floor and a sketch. How loud, how close are neighbors: stated that I record everything from spoken voice to all out rock band. Gave distances to neighbors. Anatomy of existing walls/ceiling: again 4x4 post with metal wall. 12' from ground to bottom of wood truss (ceiling). Dimentions: again, 30x50. Will be using 30x25. Would like to go 8' for ceiling. Include drawings: Done Budget: O.K. I missed this one. Not exactly sure. I tried to add up the cost for lumber, wiring, insulation (a guess), drywall, lights etc. Everything I could think of (I'm sure I missed some). I came up to about $6000 not counting the slab I'll have to poor and also not counting A/C. I can live with this amount and a little more. O.K., I promise I'm not trying to be a smarta** by listing all this stuff again (believe me, I didn't want to--I don't have any more time than anyone else), I'm just not sure what I missed to be able to ask the question that I did. I also would like to say, with all due respect to the experts on this site, when you do a search of something that may not be included in "FAQ" you usually end up chasing your tail and back to the same "read this before you ask any questions" page. I think this is because someone asked a general question that possibly didn't need all the info that "must be supplied" and was told they would not be answered. Point 1: Someone a month from now may do a search to see if there is something about insulating the walls of a pole barn. The thread I started will pop up. Said person says "fantastic---some info". He click on thread and sees that person (me) was told basically "you will not be answered". Point 2: There was a thread a while back were a guy asked if anyone had used Quiet Rock. I thought this was a resonable question. He was given the third degree 'cause he didn't post all the required info. Did he really need to give location, room details, overview of build, how close neighbors were, anatomy of existing walls, drawings and a budget to get an answer to this question? I realize you guys do this (help people out) on your own time without any compensation. I am grateful you are there and I appreciate what you do. There is a wealth of info on this site that is free and I appreciate that also. I know it must get old for you guys answering the same questions over and over so I completely understand the "read this first" stuff. I however don't appreciate being looked down upon because someone THINKS I didn't read what I was supposed to. Here what I think would have worked better: "J.P. you forgot to post __________. " or "J.P. could you please tell us what color the metal is?" :) (O.K., now I'm being a smartass). Here what I feel like what happened:    Another newbie    Although I hope it doesn't happen, I realize I'll probably never get any help or answers now. One day I'll learn just to keep my mouth shut. Probably not, but maybe.

From the Before You Post announcement:
Nothing says "I didn't bother to read or follow these instructions" like leaving your profile location blank!
Bolding and italics in original. You did add it to your profile, so obviously you read it finally, but chose not to detail that in your post. Unfortunately I am at a loss on your metal wall. Hopefully some one will be able to help you. Good luck! Andre
You're right AVare, I left it out the first time around. When I was writing my initial post I though I had remembered reading something about location (didn't remember it said to include in profile) so I included it my post. After reading it again I went back and edited my profile. Sorry, nothing sinister intended. :) [/quote]
It may help to post a picture of the barn and describe the metal walls , are they corrugated, if so this may affect the way you can approach adding mass to them. I would also suggest posting your design on the design section of the forum, you may get more help there.
Will do clunk, Thanks for the reply.
