so, ive got the brickys starting on thursday.
theyre gonna rip off the garage door and brick up the outer leaf to leave space for a window (a window may not sound like a good idea to most people when building a studio/dead sound space, but hey! ;-) i still want to make the room usable for when i sell the house in a couple of years).
also, around the side, theyre slapping through the wall to create a new doorway.
ill post pics and keep this page updated as and when i can. thanks to everyone for all your help! :-)
PS. btw, i still need to source green glue and RC1 from somewhere cheap in the UK, any ideas?
HERE GOES NOTHING!

you can get Green Glue from here

Last time i checked it was about £9.00 + VAT but typically you would buy by the case. I havent made the mental leap to go for it as yet given I need about 7 cases which is getting on for a grand.
cheers
thanks for the link. whats the coverage (metres squared) of a tube?
work is planned for beginning of next week!
and i also require some of these:

but i cant find any UK suppliers. can anyone help or inform me of an equivalent, please?
cheers.
thanks for the replies! ;-) lol
but, it doesnt matter, change of detail.
so, quick update: got my mate to plaster the internal face of the external leaf before we start on the internal construction. materials being delivered tomorrow morning. start building the floor on monday morning. :-)
Is there anywhere we can view your build at? I clicked the link in your post but it seems to be some kind of advertisement?
suppose i could start a thread in here: http://www.johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/viewf ... fdf23ab180
but ill need to get the pictures uploaded first.
itll be laughable compared to everyone elses studios though. lol
i feel like a bit of progress is being made!
weve got the floor down and the ceiling dwanged with r-bars
in place. :-)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
electrical roughing next:
im having a few spot downlights in the room and i was
wondering if ceiling boxes ( ive seen some people here
build them) that house the light bulds would really be required?
if not, it will just be a simple case of spreading the insulation
out of the way of the top of the bulb and wiring.
i realise that the holes cut through the plasterboard will leak
some sound, but will 2" holes make that much of a difference?
i also realise i am cutting a few corners but, hey. :-P
any suggestions or links to diy boxes appreciated! cheers...
Also, where have you relocated your main fuse box?
