hey guys, new here obviously...ive been reading some good info here but i thought i would take pics of what i already had and start from there... im building a vocal booth in my bedroom, i want to make it soundproof, obviously the cheepest way possible, ive just started this project this week, so far ive used plywood for the roof and floor, metal studs, just regular drywall, insulated with sound insulation, i used the pink foam to cover the insulaton and i sealed it very good all around.. after reading through the net though i realized its harder than i thought, here are some pics so far

im still not done sealing it, and i was planning on insualting the roof the same, at this point after reading through forums i dont wanna waste my time and not get any results, this looked like the smartest group so i thought u would help.. my next step would have been using mdf inside all around sealing it and putting some type of acoustic foam.. what do u guys think?
I think you truly are under the influence of newbness The trick to break free from your influence is to ask questions BEFORE you build. Your questions would be framed from the addition of information located from this recommended link: http://www.johnlsayers.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=2125 I can only think of one possible way to improve this contraption. Get a match....
well i am a newb a building studios ivenever done it, but is it that bad so far??
Looks like you may have taken this path: Build > Test > Unhappy > Ask You needed to take this path for better results: Study > Plan > Ask > Revise > (Repeat last four as necessary) > Build > Test > Tweak > Enjoy It's quite possible if you start on the above-recommended path now you may come to find there is no cure for what has already been constructed. You will have to make that decision, not because of our opinions but because of your own newfound understanding of what's actually wrong with it. Best place to start is soaking up the great info offered on this site. It will require a time commitment on your part to dig through all that is recorded here. Trust me, it is time well spent. This is a complex subject, so don't expect to grasp the concepts overnite. But if you show a willingness to learn instead of asking for a quick fix, folks here will bend over backwards to help you.
Great post Brian :) Staffco, we're not as bad as we pretend to be  We'd love to help, but first help yourself. Study this forum.. no, really. That's all there is too it for now. Study other builds and learn. Good info here. Oh, and pleaaaaaase follow them stickies. And don't make us repeat that.. regards, Ro
i have read alot on here, most the products i hear of i dont know where to find or what they are, i see alot of ppl here are making a full studio im making a small box, dosent have to be perfect, i just dont want sound getting out so my family can hear, i guess when i started it i thought it be easier, and i kno i still got some work to do now...i was planning on buying mdf and covering inside but i dont kno if that will even make a difference?
Check the section entitled walls found within the reference section, that might help
There is an announcement at the top of the forum about what to assure getting as many responses as possible. The announcement leads to this post. Actually, several people, who are experts on this forum, will not reply in any way if you do not do what is written the post.

1) It does not matter how much of a hurry you are in. Follow the instructions. In all the time you have spent arguing about doing it, you could have done it correctly 5 times. Follow the instructions if you want help. If you want to keep arguing about it, then be my guest. It will take you twice as long to get any help from this site. Not trying to be rude, just honest. 2) you want mass/air/mass for sound proofing, but you *knew* that since you have done your homework, right?. MDF can be good, depending on how it is used. Foam does not soundproof at all, but might be needed on the inside of the walls, but I do not know for sure since you have not provided enough information (the stuff we keep asking for???).
Not that he said but my money is on the dimensions being 4' X 4' X 7'. Any takers?
