Hi, currently I have a basement studio on concrete slab. It measures 24' x 16'. Two walls are regular stud walls with OSB board put up and the other two walls are exterior concrete block walls. My question is, should I finish covering all the walls with drywall or cedar wood? I want to improve the quality of my recordings. I am not concerned about sound isolation. I do have about 20 DIY Bass traps of 3 to 6" Rockwool. I just did not know if drywall or wood would improve things compared to the concrete walls? Any help would be appreciated.
OSB for Walls vs Drywall or Concrete Block?

The drywall or wood will help the acoustics of the room by increasing low frequency absorption.

If not attached directly to the wall I presume... In general it will not improve your acoustics. Wood, gypsum, concrete etc are all very reflective materials. But building an extra wall in front made out of GB will prolly do some basstrapping as Andre suggested. Tho you'd better start treating your corners and fill'm with wool. Cheaper and easier. Have you measured your room yet? Put up absorbers. Check the acoustics section of this board and find out. There's good info here! The drywall or wood will help the acoustics of the room by increasing low frequency absorption. Andre
thanks for the replies. I've got bass traps in the corners and covering about 30% of the walls. My recordings are not bad, I just did not know if wood or drywall all around was worth the expense. I have also built an isolation room for guitar recordings out of OSB stud walls. I might change that to drywall and see if it improves the quality.
Where did you get OSB studs from?
I used regular studs with OSB board instead of sheetrock.
