Hi again,
Paul from Racine, WI here with another question.
I designed this to scale in sketch up, and would love some feed back before I find a builder (most likely my brother in law who is a cabinet maker by trade.)
I am a big fan of Mission Style furniture and Frank Lloyd Wright and am deigning my control room with that in mind.
A few questions I have are:
Hard wood VS Laminated MDF?
Speakers on top of the 4 space top racks or on seperate stands behind?
Any Do's and Don'ts I am not considering ?

OK re-sized it.
so why don't you resize it?
I'm not a MOD so I can't do it for you in case you don't know how....
There's a dedicated sticky about desks somewhere on this forum, have you checked that?
Paul,
thats a nice design you have going there.
i think the mdf vs ply is a matter of cost and aesthetics... though, i would think ply is stronger (but i'm sure your bro can answer that).
as for the speaker position... that would depend on how big your room is... your trying to keep an equilateral triangle... ideally, probably on stands which would give you better isolation from misc vibrations and reflections from your desk.... but that being said, mine are on my desk sitting on top of some insolation (temp)... and it's not terrible...
Ro is correct though, theres a bunch of posts on furniture/desks... prob both materials on the site, have a look around.
sandled
ease of access to the side rack (assuming they are) cabinets? noisy equipment enclosure, positioning of speakers etc... space for video monitor and mix board? ideally put the speakers behind on stands. i'd use hardwood if its an option.
Wow that is why I love this place. Very interresting ideas.
I love the matching speaker stands.
I of course am still fighting the look and asthetics vs function.
I also designed the "monitor bridge" on my drawing to be hollow to essentially be a conduit for the cables.
