The auralex bass traps are so expensive, and i see that many people on here (and elsewhere) are just building themselves some pretty darn nice looking bass traps. Which would be smarter to get for a 12 x 12 room with 8' ceilings? thanks!
This has been discussed many times and there's even tests done to compare. Building yourself a good basstrap (using wool) will be very effecient and much cheaper than that pre-made stuff. So if yer handy, go for it.
thanks. there are so many posts i wasnt sure where to look... also, the visual tests make no sense to me. i know what i can hear, but the visual specs baffle me (its the same with reading music for me). i see that most are using mineral wool/rockwool for bass traps. does anyone have any tips as to where i can find any that doesnt cost an arm and a leg? i googled it and im not having a ton of luck. thanks!
If you would read and follow the second announcement at the top of the page you would get more responses. WHERE ON EARTH ARE YOU!? You can use fiberglas or rockwool. Use which is cheaper in your area. Look for 3 lb per cubic foot or lighter density. Andre
ergh.... sorry. im in georgia, usa. i guess i just figured we were all americans here! how republican of me... just kidding. (no offense to any republicans on here of course). ive attached a little sketch of my room. its 12'x12' and the ceilings are 8' high. the closet doors are open and the bookshelf is filled with books and gear (pedals, cables, mics). the doorway closest to the speakers is always open. one thing not in the pic, right above the 2 amps that are together, is a window (3'x3'). the floors are hardwood, and there is no carpet. the speakers are about 4' apart from each other and 6" away from the wall im trying to figure out where to put more absorbers, any diffusers, and where and how many bass traps to put up. the absorbers in the pic are the only things up thus far. i hope i didnt leave anything out this time.
