Hey all
I am putting together a 5.1 mix room for television & radio spots. We have just begun demolition and I am working on the acoustics design right now. I am intending to have slat resonators on the left & right of the mix position. You can see in the picture that because of a column in the room, I have a lot of space behind my slat resonator on the right hand side. I was intending to use that space to build a deeper absorber so i could eat a few more low frequencies that will trouble my room. But since I don't have the same depth on the left hand side, my absorber will be thinner and absorb higher frequencies.
I guess the question is, am I going to get into trouble having the left and right sides of the mix position absorb different frequency ranges?
Thanks in advance. All of your knowledge and experience has greatly helped me on this project.

Different depth slat resonators on Left & Right side

you could build out a shallow cavity on the deeper side to match them both, to avoid different absorption results...
I'll second that, strive for symetry. I would definitely put some heavy acoustic traps on rear wall, not just in the corner And BTW don't assume your sub will be located where it' s shown in you pict. It may not be the case in the end, just a thought.
