Sorry for not posting measurements the room is 7ft. height, 14.3ft wide and 23.6ft long. The area from the pics where I have plans to put the booth is 6ft. wide, 5.7ft long and and 6.8ft. height. What I was wondering is should I use the whole room and use alot of base traps and absortion pads or cut off the rooms lenght and still use bass traps? like I said any help would be appreciated. thanks
Maybe you can get more information by reading this for a few days:

Thanks, I will keep reading, like I previously posted I have read thru alot of the forum, really trying to educate myself a little better, matter fact I been looking at this site for about 2 months, I was hoping I could figuere it out on my own but its been a little difficult to understand all aspects of building a home studio not to mention everything that you need to know about properly sound proofing the room. Mostly I hope that Im facing my speakers and equipment the right way taking advantage of the room and what ever else I could do to improve the space. thanks I hope to hear from some one soon.
what is that frame next tot he mix desk? i think you're a bit off center with the mix relative to the walls.
Thanks for the reply gulfo, I bought the house a couple of weeks ago, That frame was already there when I moved in, the frame sits on top of about 3 inch slab of cement with carpet on it. I was going to utilize it and build a vocal booth around it, is that a good Idea? as far as where the mix sits I wanted to center it better but the 3 inch slab gets in my way and right in front of the frame on the side where my equipment sits theres a small dip that throws off my speaker stand and mix table, hope that makes sense to you. Can you see from my pics if theres a better way to position my equipment or posibly the vocal booth Im ready to get started but Im having a heck of a time figuering out how to position everything. thanks for your help.
If I had to guess, I'd say there was, at one time, a wall that ran underneath the overhead floor framing. The elevated slab most likely establishes the perimeter of this wall or room. The cool looking bookshelf stained gizmo seems to be the support for what was removed. Or maybe just a springiness/sag in the floor from over the years needed propping up at that crucial junction? That frame was already there when I moved in, the frame sits on top of about 3 inch slab of cement with carpet on it.
hey guys I thought I post this very primitive sketch of the basement hoping it would give a better perspective. I hope that helps a little more maybe you can sketch me out a better plan, any help would be appreciated. thanks
i'd probably do something like this.
So just face the equipment kitty corner?, sorry gulfo not getting what your saying.
i'd build out the side wall on an angle and make a front wall w/ trapping. this way you can make a decent size booth on the side and have the entire rear area become your live space.
I think Im getting it gulfo sorry to be such a dumb a_ _ but would it be possible for you to make me a child like diagram so I can see what your saying, I have some what an Idea about it but that 3 inch slab thats in my way not totally sure I get the full picture again sorry. please don't give up on me just need a little more direction. thank you again.
like this?
Awsome gulfo! It seems that you have the speakers up against the wall, that must be ok?, I thought you should be a foot or so from the wall with the speakers. Where you have the vocal booth illustrated thats gonna be right over that 3 inch slab so im loosing 7ft to 6.7ft of height I suppose Ill have to use alot of absortion pads in the booth or bass traps, other wise with that height it might end up sounding like a closet. Am I right about that? or.. still learning sorry.
the speakers are placed however you need them. generally, in this small of a space, just off the front wall will likely be better. yea, some of the iso booth will have 3" less space... not much you can do... so plan on using distributed absorption and some slats (perhaps some reversible treatments also) to get the room sounding decent.
Just wanna say thank you gulfo for your patience and help. I feel like I have better direction with all this, awsome site!! again thanks.
