Being an avid reader of this forum for about a year or so, I just wanted to pass on a thought to anyone designing a studio, control room etc from scratch, if you are lucky enough to be in that position. If I'm right, I believe that as long as you know your intended room height, stick to 1 of the 'ideal room ratios' and make sure you use the 38% rule for listening position, with some simple maths and careful thought / research, it is relatively straight forward to design your room as everything else will then 'fall into place'.
It was fairly daunting reading these posts at first, but after a while and lots of reading, it all becomes clear!
Just wanted to pass my thoughts on to any other 'newbies' who may feel like I did when I first thought about my build.
Hey - the architect has been round and it looks like it will finally happen. Watch this space......
Cheers all. :D
Don't despair......

Hai Yellow, thanx for "teaching" the newbies :)
It's true, there's so much info here you need at least a few weeks/months to not only read but also get a clue what's written. Can be confusing but it will become clear. It's no magic, just plain old science and fact.
cheers
It just seems to me that so many people make silly errors. Now, I'm not perfect, far far from it, but time and again I read about things like monitors positioned incorrectly, ignoring ratios and the 38% rule, firing sound down short walls as opposed to down the length of a room etc etc.
Just wanted to pass on things I've learned from reading on places like Sound on Sound, and here for example. That's all.
Happy designing all :D
