what info do you need on the materials? my materials are baked clay bricks 220mm x 70mm x 90mm, 15mm dry walling, im not sure what you trying to say, you tell me for best possible fill it but in the same sentence tell me that if it was you that you wouldnt, what should i follow? why wouldnt you fill it? because of cost? and would the extra isolation not be worth the extra cost to fill it in your oppinion?
thanks for the link
The thing is, you need mass-spring-mass. (spring can be air, wool etc) bigger (1 leaf!) mass is better isolation (less transmition of sound) Connecting the 2 brickwalls to make 1 big mass wall is good. You can either build the wall 2 bricks wide or poor sand/cement/concrete in the airspace to make en even bigger, heavier wall. Why would you make 2 brick walls? Is the interior wall gonna be part of a room-in-room construction? If so, don't fill the airspace and just render the wall with cement. easy. You don't really need GB, you've already got 2 walls this way. And those are two heavy ones too!
hi ro, im building a double brick wall because of the fact that the studios ceiling is going to be heavy and it makes up more mass so better isolation, i just needed the best location for each material in my construction. The interior brick wall is not going to be part of a room in a room. Thanks for your straight forward answer, i will then fill the air gap between the brick walls with concrete and make it one solid wall with the dry walling and pink stuff on the interior wall as in the pic thus creating a decent two leaf wall.
Did you post sizes of ye new build room already?
I did in a previous thread, but here they are again, my building size is 13m x 5m x 3m height, this is my interior space i have available. I am working towards the plan of sonar studios on this site, i have a little more space than they did so im not totally decided on my three room sizes so any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, my two main rooms i will use the most will be the control room and the live room, i would like to keep my control room and live rooms as big as possible to get a nice big drum sound with room mics, what i had in mind was sticking to the control room size of sonar 4m in front and 6m at the back, i can make my live room a little bit bigger then if i made the vocal booth 1.5m in the front and 1m at the back, i then have +- 7.5m in the front and 6m at the back for the live room give and take a little because of the walls that will seperate the rooms. any suggestions??
