my contractor ended up leaving about a 2" gap above my double door assembly. I have a pretty solid construction (hat channell on RSIC clips, double 5/8" drywall with greenglue and rockwool insulation / two solid core doors with 5'8 insulated glass) and now I have a huge gap to fill, any suggestions for how to do that in an effective way? Jim.

you could cut strips of MDF to fill it in on each side (don't contact them...), glue and screw, and mud over it. MDF is denser than the drywall and a bit easier to handle. and should be sufficient mass.
what do you mean by dont contact them? I'm assuming that I should just cut it so it fits nice and snug and then use acoustic caulk and mud to finish it up.
sorry - don't contact them between walls -- that is: don't create a solid bridge between walls (if that is your case).
