I owe this community so much. I thought I should return something for everything you all have given me. If you need more detail, let me know. I would have uploaded all the pics to this site, but it would have been hard to manage all of them. I have no plans of getting rid of this website anytime soon. Just had look. Fantastic! Andre
Hey adam, Your room looks awesome. i'm in the planning/designing stage for my own panels, so i have a few questions if that's alright. 1) What was the idea behind using the polyester alongside the rockwool, just to absorb bass even further? how far do the panels sit out from the wall if you have polyester and an air gap? 2) What are your room dimensions? 3) how much does each panel weigh? 4) i like your mounting idea, does keeping the sides open have any kind of effect? rather than just a closed in frame with a gap between the front of the wall and the back of the panel. Again, great job, thanks for your time and effort with the pictures. James.

The idea behind the polyester was two-fold - more bass trapping (albeit small) and to help keep the rock wool fibers from being released. I did not use the polyester on the front side of my mid/high panels - only the back of those. The front of the panels (the side facing me) sticks out 8 inches. The back of the panel (the side facing the wall) is 3.5" from the wall (the rock wool is 4" from the wall though). Room dimensions - 13.5ft x 12.833ft x 9ft high Each panel fully built weighs about 19 pounds With regards to your comment about a closed in frame, as was explained to me, the moving air needs to go somewhere. If you close it in, the air cannot properly move. You need movement of the air from the sound/pressure waves to really get the full benefit of bass trapping. Given the fact that my first reflection point mid/high frequency absorption panels are spaced away from the wall at the optimal air gap of 4", I am also reaping the benefits of bass trapping as well. If I were to put them flush against the wall, bass trapping would suffer. I'm no expert, but many here in this forum are. I learned it all from the people here. There are many good links posted here to a wealth of information. Let me know if you have any other questions. If I don't know it, I'm sure someone here does. I'll post more pics and comments to the website when I build my superchunk bass traps - give me a couple months though. From what I've done so far, the room sounds sooooooo much better than it did. Now, if life would quit getting in the way, maybe I could start on some serious music production one day :( Take care, Adam

... and that's why we ask that all photos be posted direct to the forum: even though the OP had no intention of getting rid of his web site, it is indeed gone today, just a few years later. - Stuart -
What a bummer ... I was just looking forwards to check out this studio!
