Hello! I'm new in the forum. Live in Brasil and I'm planning the construction of my first studio. I'll use it most for rehearsal with my band. But would like to record some stuff... We play Hard Rock and Heavy Metal, btw... Your comments are welcome, please advise me with your experience. The walls will be made of bricks and and concrete. Between then I plan to use fiber glass wool. Inside the live room I plan to use acoustic foam. The dimensions in the project aren't totaly correct, this is my first attempt to draw using SketchUp, but if we round the number it should be ok.

Hello dartveiga and welcome to the show! It would be handy if you'd include much more detail about your current space and your plans. For example you could post a floor plan of the current (empty) space. What materials are used etc. Are the exterior walls erected already or is this gonna be a project build from the ground up etc. etc.

Hello Ro! Well, my family is planning to build frokm the ground up a couple of houses in an area we just bought. It will be 3 houses, plus a commom area with a barbecue area a squash court, swimming pool, etc. and my studio. My studio will be build on the ground level. Upstair well have a guest room. On the right of the scheme I placed before will be the squash court. The space for my studio is limited by the outside walls. They are 25m width by 5.5m deep (on the right side, acording to the scheme). This is defined by the whole project which is almost done, so I don't plan to change it. I didn't plan to build a most sofisticated floor. I intend to build as soil, concrete, mdf, carpet. No other special treatment... Is this ok? There are any cheap method that I can do to accomplish a better result? The walls I plan to do outside to inside as the attached scheme: Painting / Concrete Blocks / fiber glass wool / ----50 cm minimum space---- / fiber glass wool / brick wall / gypsum / acoustic foam. Any mode information needed? Hope this help. Thanks!

i'd skip the acoustic foam and build up porous absorbers to place on first reflection points and as clouds. i'd turn the mix desk to face the live room but i'd still be concerned about the lack of symmetry in the mix position.
Thank you guys for the reply! What about the isolation level outside the studio? And the quality inside the live room? Thanks!
from an isolation perspective - the nice dense walls should work pretty well. keep in mind you need to consider structure borne and the ceiling as other aspects of isolation - plus ducting etc. from a quality perspective - some of that depends on the room size as well as the types of treatment you use to shape it.
