Control Room dimensions, a small complication

Hi everybody. I am so glad I found this place. My first post here. I finally decided to buckle down and purchase a big building to move my business into. The space is large, and gives me a decent amount of freedom to build what i want into it, and to achieve good ratios. The building is in Bloomington, IN. I'm pretty close to getting everything figured out, and this forum has been a huge help. Anyhow, the problem I'm having is with the control room. I worked it out so that it would follow Louden's 1:4:1.9 ratio... 11' wide x 15.4' tall x 20.9' deep Pretty nice size! However, there is a small problem... the ceiling at the back end of the room drops to 8' because of a room on the second floor (most of the building is an open space with 17' ceilings, with the exception of a loft and two bedrooms). So essentially the ceiling is 15.4' feet tall for 76% (15.9') of it's depth, and it is 8' tall for 24% of it's depth (5'). (see attached sketch). I realize that this throws off my ratio significantly. So would the theoretical ceiling height be the average of the two diferent heights? in this case the average height being 13.624': (.76x15.4) + (.24x8) If I make the ceiling at the tall part at it's maximum height (17.27'), then the average height would be about 15' which is close, but still not quite at 15.4'. Would my best bet be to cut out the bedroom and make my room a rectangle? It seems like that low section on the back could be a potential low end build up disaster. Any kind of advice is kindly appreciated.

i just crunched some numbers and realized i could also make the room a little smaller by building a wall straight down at the point where the 8' ceiling starts, and then lowering the overall ceiling height to make the dimensions fit the 1:1.4:1.39 Sepmeyer ratio... 11.4' wide, 15.9' deep, 13' tall please see image below to clarify Obviously the room is smaller, but still not tiny. So now I'm not sure what to go with: Option A: Bigger Room, More Work, More Materials -1:1.4:1.9 -11 wide x 20.9 deep x 15.4' tall -will probably require removing a bedroom on the second floor -see pic in previous post Option B: Smaller Room, Less Work, Less Materials -1:1.14:1.39 -11.4 wide x 15.9 deep x 13 tall -does not require removing upstairs bedroom -see pic attached below I'd really like the room to be as big as possible, but the second option just seems to be easier to do while still providing good dimensions and a moderately sized room. What would you suggest? mike

sounds like a nice space. it is somewhat awkward with the drop down ceiling but that could be used for the couch area and other treatment options added overhead to make use of that ceiling height. or using the smaller room make be easier overall to build and you can still add in a false ceiling to build up the trapping.
