Adding stud-wall - would this work ?

Hi all, nothing to do with my forthcoming studio build, but I guess the principles are the same, so wonder if someone can advise me on this. I live in a semi-detached bungalow and my bedroom is adjacent to my neighbours, separated by a single-skin brick wall (no cavity). I'm trying to block out the TV noise I hear from her bedroom when I'm trying to sleep. I was considering building a stud-wall an inch or two away from the party wall (indicated by the dotted line on the drawing) maybe filling with insulation, and then dry-lining with 2 or even 3 sheets of plasterboard (drywall) if needed. TV noise isn't particully loud, same as if two people were talking at normal volume from a joining room etc… Floors are concrete. All internal walls (including the Party wall) are single-skin brick with wet plastering to both sides. My question is whether this would make any difference as the proposed stud-wall would need to touch the existing floor and the sidewalls of the bedroom - so would the sound just be transmitted though these and also along the ceiling joists? Any advise gratefully received!!! Bonk.
