Rehearsal/studio, square room: separate control room?

I'm currently in the planning stage for a combined rehearsal/studio. I need to decide whether to build a separate control room or go for an "all in one". The initial idea is to have one big room that will be used for my band rehearsals. No outside clients. I plan on making this room as comfortable, well equipped, good looking and good sounding as possible. Now, if I'm going to do that, it makes sense that we can record and mix there too! :D Hence the idea of trying to have both things. I have my eyes on a ground-floor place with the following features: -About 65 square meters. -Square shape, ceiling is about 4m high (I will post the exact measures and sketch as soon as I get the floor plans next week). -Everything is concrete or similar, i.e. it's just in "after construction stage" with no additional materials (can't find the exact words in English, sorry!). -A toilet will also be built, but on first thought there's no need for other facilities. Maybe some storage? I am hiring a qualified architect/engineer for the whole project. I trust on him that safety, local regulations, ventilation/heating and outside soundproofing is taken care of. The thing that worries me is the interior design and acoustic treatment. It's not the same to "legally" soundproof a music bar (that can sound terrible in the inside) than to work on a music studio. My questions are: 1. Would you recommend the "all-in-one" room or a separate control room? 2. The square shape worries me, are there any standard "one room" plans that I can use to break it up? 3. Will building a separate control room help with this? (i.e. the main room won't be square anymore).
check out some of John's studio plans on the SAE site. some of them may work for a square space. if its just a rehearsal studio though, then you can just concentrate on isolation and acoustics for one room. if you're thinking about recording, then you may decide that having the control room and one or more isolation booths will work better. 65m2 is a nice size space so i think you can put in at least a CR and a live room (+ bathroom). if you are going to do recordings, consider isolation from the perspective of avoiding inbound sounds from impacting your recording (as well as considering outbound). with 4m height - i'd try to keep as much of that as possible after getting the ceiling isolation in place.
Thanks for your help! Which of the plans do you think is more suitable for the space: the "big facility" plan, minus studio 2 and vocal booth, or the "corner control room", combining studio A and B? I will have my architect get the floor plans and sketch something with the real measures sometime this week.
i think the corner one is mostly likely the better fit. you could combine the two rooms to get a larger live room (but frame it so you can add the wall and doors later if desired).
