Need some suggestions please. New design (very rough).

Hey all! I was wondering if I could get some feedback on this design (mocked up in Google SketchUp to scale). It's very simple at the moment. The rough dimensions are 24' x 13', with 10' ceiling at the walls (not sure how high the arch can be yet). So that should make this about 312 square feet. I'm thinking a one room space for tracking and mixing so it needs to be versatile. This way I can take advantage of the available space without having to compromise too much. The rug under the window would be the console position, and the rug by the wall suggested drum position. I will be bringing clients in and I do quite like the vibe and communication of one room setups, but any suggestions are very much welcomed.

i'd focus on making sure the mix location was symmetrical and not prone to a lot of strong reflections, and i'd make the live space more versatile to accommodate different situations - live, dead, in between by making reversible or moveable treatments. you could consider things like drum and amp risers to remove some of the structure borne transfer between positions, and a pseudo drum "booth" which would be built to be ideal for drums, and which you could "close off" with gobos in case you found the need for more isolation.
Thanks for replying Glenn! I was thinking pretty much the same thing. However, I may have a little extra space to play with allowing me to build an L shaped room totaling about 350 square feet. I was thinking about using the L part (11'x10') as a 'control room', and the long section (24'x10') as the live area, but keeping it as one large space. Any thoughts on that? I've included a jpeg for non-sketchup peeps to see what I'm thinking.

that can work. depending on how you work, you could have the "CR" face into the "live" room or vice versa - facing the wall. you could also have the "CR" in the live room facing towards the middle and the use the side section as an "iso booth" (using gobos or something similar).
Thanks again Glenn. So I'm getting to construction ideas and one possibility is to whip up the shell of the building using Celcon High 7 breeze blocks. These buggers have a density of about 750 kg/m3, which would provide an excellent staring point for keeping drums in and neighbors kids out! The internal walls are somewhat more debatable. I've been considering using the slot resonator design for the interior walls of the 'control room' (shown on the SAE site), but I'm not sure if that would compromise the overall stc rating if I were to use standard double wall construction for the main playing areas. The roof will be pitched and is proving to be a right pain so far. I would like to keep the shape inside to maximize the cubic footage, but I'm not sure how best to isolate the ceiling from the outside world. Any suggestions or experiences of pitched roofs would be great! Thanks everyone!
there's a couple of options for isolation of the ceiling - one - build up the interior - add layers of 5/8" drywall (assuming the structure can support it) on isolation mounts RC or RSIC; or two, build up on the exterior - effectively pulling off the existing shingles and building another roof layer - 2x8 on isolation mounts - R19 - 3/4" ply - roofing and then add another layer or two of 5/8" on the inside. the block idea might be good - maybe just for a drum booth unless its affordable.
