An Introduction from a DIY

Hello all, I,d thought I,d introduce myself. My name is Chuck Lin from Portsmouth , VA I,ve been lurking this site for along time now, perhaps 2 years of gathering info and copying others where I can for my home studio. I also have Rod’s Book, which I study quite often. Finally have funds, finally have a place, and finally am going ahead with a studio build. I think I have enough knowledge to go ahead, theres no need for me to ask questions here as I,m going to build a certain way, and lets face it, every studio build is different,,so why should I accept opinions if I know what I,m doing,,and want it done a certain way?? Seen a lot of spam on this website from time to time….could sure use an upgrade, gets annoying after awhile doesn’t it. And being such a great site, spam doesn’t reflect well on this site does it? Before I go please tell me something…..On the back cover of Rods book, it states “How do you soundproof this room to your noise in and outside noise out?” Then on page 286 he himself states no such thing as soundproofing, a myth. Someone as professional as Rod, Seems a ridiculous oversight on perhaps the editors part. I,ll be posting my pics on my website once it starts to happen… I hope you guys will visit, I don’t really want to post pics here, and tell people “ Check out my pics…but try and wade thru the spam and bots” It doesn’t seem fair. may be he was thinking of another forum? :shock: anyways, chuck, spam is a fact of life regardless of how many captcha controls or other things you put into place, i recommend skipping the spam when you find it... as far as "soundproof" - no such thing. "sound isolation", "transmission loss" are terms you'll want to review. "soundproofing" is a marketing term for the act of improving the sound isolation. "soundproof" means the marketeer forgot to check with the engineers. :idea:

dude - egg crates don't really work man. You need to hang carpet on the walls. And make sure your walls are parallel too.

I think this guy IS a spammer. Most of his posts are about spamming. Does the word dildo come to anyone's mind? :shock:

Oh man, I guess I pushed it envelope to far. I know a few people got it and well some didnt. First clue was Chucklin as in laughing... Time to reveal my real identity!!!! boss, I don't think anyone "got it." imo, It's more due to the helpful nature and tolerance of the multi-cultural persons involved here that you didn't find yourself in a flaming hell. In fact this first post is driven by unwarranted statements about Mr. Gervais book and your concerns about proper editing. You essentially said that you did not require anyone here for anything, so, see you losers later. Then stated you would hope that we visit your build website because you were embarrassed to utilize the offer that John Sayers has extended to anyone and all who are interested. That type of thing does not go un-noticed and community does not grant favor just because one says, "it was a joke." no joke.....

And after all that, he never revealed his identity! :cry: :cry:
